Pauli Brattico (b. 1973) is a postdoctoral researcher at IUSS Pavia, working in a project lead by Prof. Cristiano Chesi investigating a “parser-friendly” approach to the human grammatical competence.
The main interest to me in this project is to see if this approach could solve certain problems I have encountered in my empirical research. In addition to basic empirical research, I am working with a Python (computer program) implementation of our hypothesis.
My previous work is mainly on the domain of empirical linguistics, and on the Finnish language in particular. In addition to the current project, I am also currently working on Finnish topicality, wh-movement and island behavior, and certain problems of grammatical rule ordering.
