Issues in neuropsycology a.y. 2020/21
The course will focus on the critical role of language assessment in the clinical diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases, in particular, in the case of Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA). Advantage and limits of the current diagnostic criteria (Gorno-Tempini et al., 2011), identifying three main PPA variants on the basis of clinical features and patterns of brain atrophy, namely the non fluent, the semantic and the logopenic variant, will be dealt with. The clinical, neuropsychological profile, and the neural correlates of each PPA variant will be considered in detail. Tasks used to assess speech and language functions in PPA will be largely deepened. Practical exercises will be based on case reports, video and audio of patients.
