Hands-on climate model evaluation a.y. 2021/22
The course will give an overview on how climate model are evaluated and present some of the instruments used for this purpose, like cdo commands and R language. Standard metrics for the evaluation of climate models, such as probability distributions, joint probability and emergent constraints, will be introduced and students will be asked to apply these or other metrics on climate data over Europe. The purpose is to validate regional and convection-permitting models over Europe against high-resolution observational datasets and investigate the climate change and its possible drivers.
