Petros studied civil engineering at the University of Patras (Greece), from which he graduated in 2015 with a specialization in structural engineering. Afterwards, he graduated from the Erasmus Mundus MEEES program with a M.Sc. in Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Seismology after attending courses in Université Grenoble-Alpes (France) and IUSS Pavia (Italy). His master thesis focused on the exploration of the impact of epistemic uncertainty in seismic risk assessment, in collaboration with Aspen RE and Global Earthquake Model Foundation (GEM). After completing his master studies, he worked in GEM as a seismic risk engineer prior to his enrollment in the doctoral program in October 2018.
