Mariia Pronina is a predoctoral researcher in the Prosodic Studies Group (GrEP) of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona, supervised by Pilar Prieto. She received her B.A. and M.A. in Spanish Language and Literature from Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU). She is the recipient of the FI grant and, in addition to her PhD, she teaches at the Department of Translation and Language Sciences at UPF. She is also a collaborating professor at Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC).
Her primary research interests include prosodic and pragmatic development, multimodal communication, and the interface between pragmatics and Theory of Mind from a developmental perspective. Currently, she is working on the project entitled «Sociopragmatic development in the preschool years: the links with prosodic and gestural abilities and Theory of Mind» which explores pragmatic development in typically developing preschool children and its relationship with other skills specifically focusing on the role that gesture and prosody play in this picture.
