Claudia Gianelli is Senior Research Fellow at University School for Advance Studies, IUSS since March 2019. First trained in Semiotics, she holds a PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience (Joint PhD Program, University of Bologna). During her PhD studies she has worked at the University of Parma and University of Bologna in Italy, and the INSERM in France. As a postdoctoral research fellow she was part of the EU Project ROSSI: Emergence of communication in Robots through Sentorimotor and Social Interaction (2010-2012). From 2012 to 2018, she was a Research Scientist at the University of Potsdam, Germany and head of the TMS/EEG Lab for the Potsdam Embodied Cognition Group (PECoG). Before moving to Pavia, in 2018-19 she was a Senior Scientist for the BMBF (German Federal Ministry of Education and Research)-funded company neuraltrain in Berlin and a Guest Scientist at the University of Potsdam. She investigates the neurophysiological signatures of embodied processes (e.g. language) by means of behavioural and neurophysiological measures in healthy participants and clinical populations (e.g. movement disorders).
