Daniele Molinini is FCT Researcher at the Centro de Filosofia das Ciências, University of Lisbon, where he works on the project "Disclosing the Role of Visual Reasoning and Mathematical Diagrams in Scientific Explanation". After graduating in physics at the University of Bologna and obtaining a master in logic, philosophy, history and sociology of sciences at the University of Paris 7, he got a PhD from the same university, with a thesis in philosophy of mathematics ("Toward a Pluralist Approach to Mathematical Explanation of Physical Phenomena"; supervisor: Prof. M. Panza). Having since worked in several national and international research centers, his interests lie mainly in the philosophy of mathematics and science, and in particular in the notion of explanation.
