Francesca Rizzelli graduated in Biology at University of Salerno in December 2016, cum laude. During the MSc, she had the opportunity to follow a course of biocrystallography. She has been deeply fascinated by this topic, and decided to work in the field of crystallography at the x-ray diffraction laboratory of the University. For her thesis, she dealt with the synthesis, crystallization and crystal structure determination of peptidomimetic compounds. From May 2017 she joined the lab of Marina Mapelli at the European Institute of Oncology (IEO) of Milano, where she started translating her crystallographic knowledge on small molecules to biologically relevant macromolecules. Currently, she is enrolled in the PhD program of IUSS Pavia carrying out her research activity at the IEO.
