Clara Armaroli holds a PhD in Earth Sciences awarded in 2008 by the Department of Earth Sciences of the University of Ferrara, with a thesis entitled "Morphodynamic classification of the submerged beach of Lido di Dante (Ravenna) through video monitoring" (SSD GEO-04). From 2008 to 2016 she was a Post-doc Research Fellow at the Department of Physics and Earth Sciences of the University of Ferrara. She has been adjunct professor at the Department of Engineering of the University of Ferrara from the A.A. 2015-2016 up to A.A. 2018-2019, teaching the course "Elements of Geology and Geomorphology" to the students of the BSc degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering. She deals with issues related to coastal geomorphology and the dynamics of sandy coasts, collaborating with various bodies at local and regional level and with research institutes and foreign universities (Cadiz, Spain and Algarve, Portugal).
She currently works on topics related to coastal flooding and erosion risk through the application of hazard and impact models. She participated to numerous national and international research projects. She has worked as a research fellow in the European projects Coastview (FP5), Risc-kit (FP7), Anywhere (H2020) and had the role of vice coordinator of the Micore project (FP7), coordinated by the University of Ferrara. She coordinated the project VIMOVER in collaboration with the University of the Algarve, financed by the Young Researchers program of the University of Ferrara. She is scientific coordinator on behalf of the Consorzio Futuro in Ricerca (Ferrara) of the SandWay project, dealing with the study of bedload transport operated by rivers in relation with sediment supply to beaches of the coastal area of the Ravenna province. She was a lecturer in several international summer schools and for the Erasmus Mundus program, as part of the WACOMA Joint Master Degree, on topics related to video-monitoring (remote sensing) of coastal areas, assessment of flood and erosion risk and effects of land subsidence on coastal zones. She is visiting professor at the Université Bretagne Sud (UBS), France. She served as convener, co-convener and member of the scientific committee of several international conferences. She is a member of the Editorial Board (as Guest Associate Editor) of the Geohazards and Georisks section of the International Journal Frontiers in Earth Science.
