Marco Gaetani is a Researcher in Meteorology and Climatology at the IUSS School for Advanced Studies in Pavia since 2019, where he teaches Climate Dynamics.
He completed a MS in Physics at La Sapienza University in Rome and a PhD in Physics at the University of L’Aquila.
He worked as a researcher at the Institute of Biometeorology (IBIMET) of CNR in Rome, the Department of Geophysics and Meteorology of the Complutense University in Madrid, the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission in Ispra and the Institute Pierre Simon Laplace (IPSL) of CNRS in Paris.
His research are the atmosphere dynamics and past, present and future climate variability. In particular, he studies the African monsoon dynamics and teleconnections, the transport of Saharan dust, and the climate variability of the Euro-Atlantic region. Moreover, he is interested in the impact of climate variability and change on human activities, agriculture and renewable energy in particular.
