How to spot lies in statistics a.y. 2021/22
"How to lie with statistics" is the title of a popular textbook introducing Statistics through the misuse and errors in computation and interpretation of results.
But how to spot such misuses and errors when we are the recipient of readings, research, news or opinions supported by statistical computations? Through practical (and funny) examples, this seminar will show how statistical paradoxes and biases in visualizations, together with an aware use of the scientific method, help identify possible - intentional or not - issues in delivering quantitative information.
