Sara Marchese

Role: PhD candidate in Biomolecular Sciences and Biotechnology
Department: Humanities and Life Sciences

Sara Marchese got the 1st level degree in Biotechnologies at University of Pavia in 2016, thesis title: “Analysis of the influence of Glutathione-S-transferase P1 enzyme on Gliceraldeyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase activity in vitro”. GSTP1 and GADPH are two known enzymes from the biochemical point of view, since they are involved in fundamental metabolic reactions, and recently studied because of their role in different cells types, as cancerous cells, particularly TNBC.
She got the 2nd level degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics, at University of Pavia in 2018, with the thesis, written in English, whose title was: “Structural and biochemical characterization of the nuclear protein N-PAC”. N-PAC is a nuclear protein involved in the positive regulation of another protein called LSD2, which is a histone-specific demethylase, fundamental for chromatin-state modification, and thus for genetic expression regulation in eukaryotic cells.
