The main aim of the project , in development with the collaboration with the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies (Professor Silvestro Micera), the "Claudio Munari" Center for Epilepsy and Parkinson's Surgery Rossini Pavilion - Niguarda Ca 'Granda Hospital (director Dr. Giorgio Lo Russo) and prof. Stefano Cappa (IUSS School), is to look for a specific oscillatory signal  for syntax. Since 2020, this project is financed by a grant from the “Progetti di Ricerca di Rilevante Interesse Nazionale” bando PRIN 2017 by MIUR (Prot. 2017JPMW4F); total budget: 317.722€; contribution from the ministery: 291.821€.

The main aim of the project, in development with the collaboration with the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies (Professor Silvestro Micera), the "Claudio Munari" Center for Epilepsy and Parkinson's Surgery Rossini Pavilion - Niguarda Ca 'Granda Hospital (director Dr. Giorgio Lo Russo) and prof. Stefano Cappa (IUSS School), is to look for a specific oscillatory signal  for syntax.
The purpose of the project, in development with the collaboration with the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies (Professor Silvestro Micera), the "Claudio Munari" Center for Epilepsy and Parkinson's Surgery Rossini Pavilion - Niguarda Ca 'Granda Hospital (director Dr. Giorgio Lo Russo) and prof. Stefano Cappa (IUSS School), is to looking for a specific oscillatory signal for syntax. In particular, on the basis of the formal syntactic theory, some acoustic stimuli have been constructed in order to discriminate the phonological content from the morphosyntactic one. Due to the nature of the project, based on the chance of accessing intracranial data through sophisticated investigation techniques (particularly the SEEG), the requested funding is essentualy grounded on the opportunity of being able to interact with experts and research centers and to provide support to develop formal theories and evaluate data. This project is still in an embryonic phase, but it will take many more hours of work. After the creation of the baseline acoustic stimuli, we moved to test some subjects by the means of intracranial measurements in stereo electroencephalography (SEEG). In January, the first data will be processed to assess whether to recalibrate the stimuli or to proceed to the acquisition of a higher number of data.
