Rciardo Monteiro (1982) got his degree in Civil Engineering at University of Porto. He then enrolled for the Ph.D Programme in Civil Engineering, specializing in Earthquake Engineering, with the same institution, with a thesis on Probabilistica Seismic assessment of Bridges. He currently holds a Research position at the IUSS Pavia, where he assists with the coordination of the International MSc and Ph.D Programmes in Risk and Emergency Management (REM) of the Graduate School for Understanding and Managing Extremes (UME).
He is involved in a number of FP7 European Research Projects, such as SYNERG-G and NERA, mostly dedicated to vulnerability assessment of bridges and buildings. In addition, he also assists different MSc and Ph.D students of the Earthquake Engineering and EngineeringSeismology programme (ROSE) of the UME School in their research theses and is a member of the Structural Analysis research team of the EUCENTRE, a IUSS-associated research centre.
