19 Aprile 2012: Seminario "Transferrin as a paradigmatic metalloprotein and a biotech hopeful: What can be learned with mass spectrometry?"
Il Seminario, organizzato nell'ambito delle attivit del dottorato IUSS in Scienze Biomolecolari e Biotecnologie, con la collaborazione del Dipartimento di Scienze del Farmaco dell'Universit degli Studi di Pavia.
Relatore: prof. Igor Kaltashov -Department of Chemistry, University of Massachusetts-Amherst (USA).
L'iniziativa, apertaal pubblico,si terr gioved 19 aprile 2012 (ore 15,00)presso l'Aula 1 (ex Aula A) - Dip. Scienze del Farmaco Viale Taramelli, 12 Pavia.
Received his undergraduate degree at Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology in 1989 and Ph.D. degree from University of Maryland Baltimore County in 1996, where he worked on applications of mass
spectrometry to problems in biochemistry under the guidance of Prof. Catherine Fenselau. Following two years as a post-doctoral fellow at Johns Hopkins Medical School (with Prof. Robert J. Cotter), he became a Director of the newly created Mass Spectrometry Center at the University of Massachusetts-mherst in 1997. He was appointed an Assistant Professor in the Chemistry department at UMass-Amherst in 2000 and promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in 2006. His research program is ocused on developing mass spectrometry-based experimental techniques to study structure, onformation, dynamics and interactions of biopolymers. The group actively collaborates with several iopharmaceutical companies, including Amgen, Biogen IDEC, and Shire Human Genetic Therapies.
Kaltashov co-authored over seventy papers and book chapters and a monograph Mass spectrometry in iophysics: Conformation and dynamics of biomolecules.
