Biography
I graduated as Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences, with honors, on 19 September 2019 at the University of Genoa with a thesis entitled: "Role of REST transcriptional repressor in the functional and structural properties of primary neurons "with supervisor Prof. Candiani. My thesis work was performed at the Italian Institute of Technology - Center for Synaptic Neuroscience and Technology in Genoa. REST is a key transcriptional repressor for genomic integrity and neuronal differentiation. The aim of my thesis work was to investigate neurons with low REST levels through lentivirus transduction techniques and immunofluorescence assays. In July 2021 I graduated as Master's Degree, with honors, in Experimental and Applied Biology, Molecular Biomedical Sciences curriculum, at the University of Pavia, with a thesis entitled "Alternative survival pathways in tumor cells: roles of DNA polymerase λ and DNA-PKcs” with supervisor Prof. Maga. The research activity was performed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics - National Research Council of Pavia, with the aim of characterizing the roles of DNA polymerase λ and DNA-PKcs in a new alternative double-strand breaks repair pathway, called Etoposide Dependent Alternative-End Joining, and also in the alternative telomeres elongation mechanism called Alternative Lenghtening of Telomeres (ALT).
