After obtaining her bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, Maithree enrolled in University of Calgary in 2018 to pursue a master’s degree specializing in structures and solid mechanics, where she conducted experimental research to investigate the potential of masonry to be utilized in a novel low-rise flat arch retaining wall. After completing her master’s thesis in 2020, she started her PhD programme in Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Seismology (ROSE Curriculum) at IUSS Pavia. Her research interests include seismic assessment, structural health monitoring and rehabilitation of historic masonry structures.
