Biography
PhD Candidate in Understanding and Managing Extremes.
Serkan received his B.Sc. degree in civil engineering from Abdullah Gül University (AGU) in 2018. He obtained his master’s degree in structural engineering program of Istanbul Technical University (ITU) in 2021. His master’s thesis was “An approximate method to estimate fundamental site period by utilizing Vs30 and bedrock depth” under the supervisions of Dr. Ahmet Güllü and Prof. Dr. Ercan Yüksel. He carried out some research in energy-based seismic assessment of reinforced concrete structures in a TUBITAK project, specifically working on the estimation of energy dissipation capacity of structural members (columns, beams) depending on past experimental data available, also improving an energy-based earthquake record scaling procedure. Besides, he worked as a research assistant in Kocaeli University in the past.
