The welcome meeting for the 39th cycle PhD students of the National PhD in Sustainable Development and Climate Change will take place on February 26th at the Aula Magna of La Sapienza University in Rome. The event is organized by the IUSS School of Pavia.

This year's event will be an opportunity to present the doctoral program to institutions and businesses, providing a space for discussion and dialogue on the fundamental themes of environmental sustainability and climate change.

The kickoff meeting, chaired by distinguished figures such as Mario Martina, Coordinator of the PhD-SDC at IUSS Pavia, Riccardo Pietrabissa, Rector of the IUSS School of Pavia, Livio De Santoli, Vice Rector for Sustainability at La Sapienza, and Carlo Papa, Director of the Enel Foundation, will see the participation of sector experts and institutional representatives who will outline the program's guidelines and future initiatives to the attending companies.

In the afternoon, there will be a welcoming session for the new PhD students, with speeches from Antonella Polimeni, Rector of La Sapienza University, Riccardo Pietrabissa, Rector of the IUSS School of Pavia, Livio De Santoli, Vice Rector for Sustainability at La Sapienza University, Mario Martina, Coordinator of the PhD-SDC at IUSS Pavia, Hiba Abyaba, Representative of PhD-SDC students in the Academic Senate at IUSS Pavia, and Marcella Gargano, General Director of Higher Education at MUR.

The ceremony will conclude with a panel discussion on "The Path to a Sustainable Future," moderated by Mario Martina, with the participation of experts such as Laura Parisi from the European Central Bank, Rubina Ramponi from ARUP, and Carlo Papa from the Enel Foundation.

The National PhD in Sustainable Development and Climate Change represents a unique opportunity for over 300 selected students, with the involvement of professors from approximately 60 Italian universities. The program, organized into 6 curricula, aims to propose new sustainable models to address climate change and to build a community of learning and research capable of promoting innovative solutions to the problems of our society.

The national PhD-SDC is a project of the IUSS School of Pavia and the Center for Climate Change Studies and Sustainable Actions (3CSA) of the Federation of Italian Schools of Higher Studies, with co-financing from the Ministry of University and Research (MUR), the support of the Network of Universities for Sustainable Development (RUS), and the Italian Alliance for Sustainable Development (ASVIS), in collaboration with 30 Italian universities and the Enel Foundation.
