Francesco Pomponi is one of the leading experts in building life cycle analysis and embodied carbon. He holds academic positions at four universities (University of York, University of Cambridge, Edinburgh Napier University, University of Cape Town). His research on the sustainability of the built environment ranges from mathematical modeling and uncertainty analysis to improve LCA methodology, to case studies of real buildings, the development of design software, and humanitarian and emergency construction projects with the United Nations in refugee camps in Kenya, Jordan and Mozambique.

The seminar will explore the link between the built environment and climate change, covering topics such as circular economy, global population growth, and climate-related migration. It will introduce life cycle assessment (LCA) for buildings and constructions, focusing on data quality and uncertainty analysis.
