The University School for Advanced Studies IUSS of Pavia is pleased to announce that Gerard O'Reilly has been awarded a prestigious grant of more than €1.3 million from the Fondo Italiano per la Scienza for the research project SensOr-driveN statisticAl tools to evaluaTe risks and manage sAfety in the built environment -SONATA. The project, which will run for three years, was selected in the ‘Starting’ category among numerous applications in a highly selective competition, making this result particularly significant for the IUSS.
SONATA The SONATA project aims to improve seismic safety in the built environment by exploiting advanced sensor technologies, artificial intelligence-driven damage assessment and the unique 9DLAB shaking table to improve fragility models of non-structural elements. Through innovative data-driven methods, SONATA will develop accurate tools for risk estimation and integrate them into a prototype system for practical decision-making in earthquake risk mitigation.
This achievement represents an important milestone for the academic community of the IUSS School.
