From 13 to 15 November 2025, the IUSS School of Advanced Studies of Pavia will participate in YOUNG – Orient Your Future, held at LarioFiere Como-Lecco. This national fair is dedicated to orientation, education, university studies, and the world of work, organized with the support of Regione Lombardia and in collaboration with Lombard universities (Università dell’Insubria, LIUC – Università Carlo Cattaneo, Università degli Studi di Milano – La Statale, IUSS Pavia, Università IULM).
The inaugural conference of the 18th National Orientation Fair will take place on Thursday, 13 November at 9:30 a.m. at LarioFiere (Erba, Como-Lecco). It will be a moment dedicated to passion, talent, teamwork, and local engagement, featuring talks, screenings, and roundtables for students, teachers, and young professionals.
The program includes institutional greetings from Marco Galimberti, President of Fondazione LarioFiere, and Alessandro Fermi, Regional Councillor for University, Research and Innovation of Regione Lombardia; the screening of the short film “With Love: Energy, Talent, Team and Territory” by Paolo Lipari / Dreamers; and a roundtable moderated by Giacomo Maini, featuring Alessandra Arnoldi (Itema Group), Laura Arrigoni (teacher and ITS coordinator), and Antonio Pozzi (Como-Lecco Chamber of Commerce).
On Friday, 14 November 2025, at the Sala Lario of LarioFiere in Erba (CO), the event “Try the Future!” will allow students and visitors to discover, experiment with, and experience firsthand the ideas shaping the future.
Following the institutional greetings by Alessandro Fermi, the program features presentations from major Lombard universities:
- Università degli Studi dell’Insubria – laboratory-based experiments;
- LIUC – Università Carlo Cattaneo – GAUSS, artificial intelligence that guides mathematical talent;
- Università degli Studi di Milano – how biomedical research transforms the mysteries of the human body into new therapies;
- Libera Università di Lingue e Comunicazione – IULM – neuromarketing and consumer neuroscience, showing how neuroscience measures advertising effectiveness;
- IUSS Pavia – Professor Cristiano Chesi, Linguistics lecturer and Director of the IUSS Linguistics Lab, presenting “The Right Questions (to Ask AI to Understand How It Processes What We Say)”, with examples and mini interactive experiments illustrating differences between human language comprehension and AI models such as ChatGPT.
The roundtable will be moderated by Flavio Saturno, Spokesperson for the Rector and Head of Communication, Orientation, and Placement at Università degli Studi dell’Insubria. The event will run from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., offering a unique opportunity to explore innovations developed by Lombard universities in a setting focused on discovery, experimentation, and the future.
During the three days, visitors to the IUSS stand can experience the value of transdisciplinarity in teaching and research through interactive and demonstrative activities:

- Friday, 14 November – “Shake the Structures: Come Make Them Tremble with Us!” (Dr. Gianrocco Mucedero): a hands-on demonstration of earthquake effects on buildings using a portable shaking table, illustrating principles of seismic engineering and earthquake-resistant design. (Duration: 30–40 min – max 15 participants)
- Saturday, 15 November – Presentation of IUSS and the EFC Project – Educating Future Citizens (Prof. Andrea Tiengo, Delegate for Incoming Orientation): an in-depth session on innovative orientation programs promoted within the national EFC initiative to support young people in making informed university choices.
