From 13 to 15 November 2025, the Scuola Universitaria Superiore IUSS Pavia will take part in YOUNG – Shape Your Future, held at LarioFiere Como-Lecco: the national fair dedicated to career guidance, education, university, and the world of work. The event is organized with the support of Regione Lombardia and in collaboration with Lombardy universities (University of Insubria, LIUC – Cattaneo University, University of Milan – La Statale, Scuola Universitaria Superiore IUSS, IULM University).
The opening ceremony will take place on Thursday 13 November at 10:00 a.m., in the Salone Lario at LarioFiere (Erba, Como-Lecco). During the opening conference, Alessandro Fermi, Regional Councillor for Universities, Research and Innovation, will highlight the importance of guidance as a continuous process that helps students make meaningful educational and professional choices, discover their talents, and develop their potential.
At the official opening session, Professor Cristiano Chesi, Linguistics Professor and Director of the IUSS Linguistics Laboratory, will give a talk entitled “The right questions (to ask an AI to understand how it processes what we say)”. Through examples and interactive mini-experiments, he will explore the differences between human language comprehension and that of artificial intelligence models such as ChatGPT.
Throughout the three days, visitors will be welcomed at the IUSS stand, where they can experience the value of transdisciplinarity in teaching and research through interactive demonstrations:
- Thursday 13 November – “Immersive Neuromodulation” (by Prof. Giulia Mattavelli): an experience combining virtual reality, neurostimulation and electroencephalography (EEG) to study mental functions and explore the connection between technological innovation and neuroscience research.
(Duration: 30–40 minutes – max 15 participants) - Friday 14 November – “Let’s Shake the Structures: come make them tremble with us!” (by Dr. Gianrocco Mucedero): a hands-on demonstration showing the effects of earthquakes on buildings using a portable shaking table. Participants will observe structural deformation and damage in real time and learn the fundamentals of earthquake engineering and seismic design.
(Duration: 30–40 minutes – max 15 participants) - Saturday 15 November – Presentation of IUSS and the EFC – Educating Future Citizens Project (by Prof. Andrea Tiengo, Delegate for Student Guidance): a session introducing the innovative guidance initiatives developed within the national EFC project, designed to help young people make informed choices for their university studies.

YOUNG – Shape Your Future is a major national event that every year attracts over 25,000 visitors, including students, families, and teachers, featuring 300 schools, 160 exhibitors, and more than 200 events. Supported by Regione Lombardia, the initiative helps new generations make informed educational and career choices by connecting them directly with universities, institutions, and companies.
