A Prova di Rischio: Marcello Arosio speaks in Milan on disaster risk reduction
On 17 October 2026, the National Museum of Science and Technology Leonardo da Vinci in Milan hosts a day dedicated to the role of education and communication in disaster risk prevention.
On Saturday, 17 October 2026, starting at 9:30 AM, the National Museum of Science and Technology Leonardo da Vinci in Milan hosts “A Prova di Rischio – Teaching and Communicating Disaster Risk Reduction in the Climate Crisis”, an event focusing on the importance of knowledge, education and communication in disaster risk prevention.
Among the speakers is Marcello Arosio from the University School for Advanced Studies IUSS Pavia, who contributes to discussions on disaster risk reduction and the challenges posed by the climate crisis.
Organised by the Italian Red Cross, with the support of QBE Italia and in collaboration with the Museum, the event brings together representatives from academia, institutions and civil society to share experiences, knowledge and approaches aimed at strengthening a culture of prevention.
The programme features two thematic sessions focusing on teaching and communicating disaster risk reduction in the context of the climate crisis. Discussions explore the role of education, science communication and clear, accessible information in raising risk awareness and helping build more prepared and resilient communities.
Other participants include Marina Baldi from the National Research Council (CNR), Stefano Caserini from the University of Parma and Federica Gasbarro, biologist and expert in sustainability, science and environmental communication. The two panels are moderated by journalists Lucrezia Lenardon and Giorgio Kaldor.
The initiative takes place in connection with the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, observed annually on 13 October, highlighting the importance of dialogue between research, institutions and civil society in promoting a shared culture of prevention.
