Federico Frau’s “Beyond Images” at the Global Science Film Festival in Zurich
The short film, previously awarded the Aldo Fasolo Prize, will be screened on 23 October as part of the “Scientists-as-Filmmakers” programme.
Beyond Images (Oltre le immagini), a short film by Federico Frau, a researcher at the University School for Advanced Studies IUSS Pavia, has been selected for the 8th edition of the Global Science Film Festival, taking place in Zurich from 23 to 25 October 2026.
The film, which previously received the Aldo Fasolo Prize, will be screened on Friday, 23 October, at 5:30 PM at Filmpodium Cinema in Zurich, as part of the Scientists-as-Filmmakers programme, dedicated to films created by researchers.
Through the perspectives of people living with psychosis, the short film explores concretism, a difficulty in interpreting figurative language that can represent a significant barrier to everyday communication. The film aims to shed light on often overlooked aspects of the experience of psychosis, using cinema as a tool for science communication and public awareness.
The film's participation in the festival represents a further opportunity to showcase the project, fostering dialogue between scientific research, cinema and society in an international setting.
