PhD candidate in Biomolecular Sciences and Biotechnology.
Cecilia Bagnera obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Biology at the University of Pavia in 2019, with a thesis entitled “Isolation and characterization of plasma microvesicles in frail elderly subjects”. In 2021, she completed her Master’s degree in Medical and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology at the University of Pavia, graduating with honors, with a thesis on “Comparison of pre- and post-lockdown spermiograms to assess the potential impact of SARS-CoV-2 infection and lifestyle changes on male fertility”.
From 2021 to 2023, she worked as a Fellow Researcher at the IRCCS Policlinico San Matteo in Pavia, where she gained expertise in cellular and molecular biology, with particular focus on ex-vivo models for drug evaluation and advanced molecular techniques.
Since 2024, she has been enrolled in the Graduate School of Pathological Anatomy and Clinical Biochemistry for non-medical graduates at the University of Pavia, while also pursuing her PhD at Philochem AG, a pharmaceutical company. Her doctoral research focuses on the identification of cyclic peptides targeting tumor-related markers through phage display screening of proprietary peptide libraries. The project aims to isolate, validate, and characterize novel ligands with potential applications as diagnostic imaging probes or therapeutic agents in oncology.
