Description: By increasing the frequency and intensity of extreme weather events, climate change is exacerbating physical risks for the economy and society.

In addition to rising average temperatures, river and rain flooding, particularly in urban areas, severe droughts, windstorms, and heat waves are expected to have more severe impacts

on Italian regions and production facilities.

Correctly identifying the threats posed by physical and transition risks to Italian regions and production sectors is a crucial step to improving the effectiveness of adaptation policies and to designing a broad and coordinated set of policies aimed at promoting an orderly transition.
