
Biography
Alessio Tacca is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Philosophy at the University School for Advanced Studies - IUSS Pavia. He is also an Adjunct Researcher at the University of Tasmania. He was previously Associate Lecturer in Philosophy at the University of Tasmania and Lecturer and Tutor at the University of New South Wales, Sydney. He earned a Master's degree in Art History from Statale University in Milan and another Master’s in Philosophy from the University of l’Aquila. He received his PhD in Philosophy from the University of New South Wales.
His research sits at the intersection of epistemology, philosophy of technology, and AI ethics, with a focus on trust and reliance on AI, epistemic dependence, and the effects of emerging technologies on traditional epistemic concepts. His work has appeared in international journals such as Neuroethics and the Australasian Journal of Philosophy, as well as edited volumes on AI and epistemology. He has presented at international conferences and serves as a reviewer for journals and scholarly associations.
He has taught courses in epistemology, metaphysics, logic, philosophy of mind, and ethics of artificial intelligence at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. His current research projects explore the concept of appropriate reliance on AI tools.
