Ordinary Courses are advanced university training courses organised in thematic cycles, offered completely free of charge, which take place concurrently with the chosen university course of study at the Università di Pavia or the Università di Milano (La Statale) and enrich the curricula of single-cycle undergraduate and master's degree courses.
Ordinary courses are reserved for deserving students, winners of the national public admission competition, selected solely on the basis of merit.
For students enrolling at the University of Pavia who win the competition for admission to the IUSS School, enrolment can only take place if they have also won the competition, according to the relevant announcements, at the Collegi universitari di merito in Pavia legally recognised and accredited by the MUR (Almo Collegio Borromeo, Collegio Ghislieri, Collegio Nuovo - Fondazione Sandra ed Enea Mattei, Collegio Santa Caterina da Siena).
The places reserved at the University Ente per il Diritto allo Studio (EDISU) di Pavia, in particular the Collegio Volta and the Collegio Cairoli (recognised Collegio di Merito) will instead be allocated exclusively according to the order of the ranking list of the IUSS School admission competition.
For students who will enrol at the Università Statale di Milano and will win the admission competition to the IUSS School, the enrolment can take place only if they will have also won the competition at the Collegio di Milano according to the rules of the realtivo announcement.
The Ordinary Courses are structured in two Academic Classes, subdivided into Disciplinary Areas, to which the various Degree Courses of the University of Pavia and the University of Milan belong.
Ordinary courses, seminars and other training activities are offered to students completely free of charge. In accordance with the provisions set out in the Announcement of Admission, all the Allievi who are successful in the competition will benefit from a Study Award destined to the total or partial reimbursement of university fees and costs related to residence at the Colleges of Merit or EDiSU Colleges.
Subject to the proper fulfilment of all the obligations of the Students as provided by the Internal Regulations for Ordinary Courses, the Study Award is guaranteed for the entire duration of the university course.
