Biography
PhD candidate in Cognitive Brain Sciences.
I'm Aurora Manini, I am a PhD student in Cognitive Brain Sciences at Istituto di Studi Universitari Superiori di Pavia (IUSS Pavia). My PhD project concerns the study of motor and social cognition using clinical neurostimulation techniques (TMS and tDCS). After obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Psychological Sciences and Techniques at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, I obtained a Master's degree in Psychobiology and Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of Parma, focusing on the study of sensorimotor involvement in the development of aesthetic appreciation. During my master's studies I developed a strong background in the investigation of sensorimotor processes underlying embodied cognition and in studying the mirror processes involved in understanding others' actions and intentions. I worked as a research fellow for a year at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, at the Neuromorphic Intelligence Laboratory, improving Data Analysis and Statistics skills and acquiring expertise in the use of several programming languages (RStudio, Matlab, Python). My interests include the study of the neural correlates of social cognition and associated pathological implications, ranging from the clinical to field research and transversally embracing Computation, Statistics and the development of Machine Learning algorithms for the analysis of neural and behavioral data.
