Biography

PhD candidate in Biomolecular Sciences and Biotechnology.

Giovanni Cremonesi graduated in Chemistry from the University of Pavia (Italy) in 2020 with a thesis entitled “Advanced anodic materials for sodium ion batteries” supervised by Professor Doretta Capsoni. Then, in 2024, he obtained his Master's degree in Physical Chemistry from the University of Pavia (Italy) with the thesis entitled “Characterization of the molecular interactions between CypB and LH1/PLOD1 and their relevance for correct collagen biosynthesis” under the supervision of Professor Federico Forneris. Since October 2024, he is a PhD student in Biomolecular Sciences and Biotechnologies at IUSS, Pavia (Italy), as a winner of the thematic fellowship entitled “Applications of Biotechnology to Drug Discovery”, PNRR - DM 630/2024. His research focuses on the study of protein binding affinities and the characterization of the interaction between therapeutic ligands and proteins, using the technique of X-ray crystallography. The research activity is developed at the Armenise-Harvard Laboratory of Structural Biology, under the supervision of Professor Federico Forneris, and in co-partnership with the Swiss company Philochem AG, under the supervision of Dr. Sebastian Oehler."
