Biography

PhD candidate in The Human Mind and its Explanations: Language, Brain and Reasoning (HuME).

Giovanni Sanavio graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy from the University of Padua, completing a one-year Erasmus stay at the University College of Cork (IRL) in 2018. Until 2021 he attended the University of Milan, carrying out a further period of study abroad at the University of Oslo (NOR), subsequently graduating in Milan in the curriculum ‘Reasoning, analysis and modelling’ (RAM), in 2024. With a background in mathematical logic and probability theory, Giovanni is currently part of the research project ‘Reasoning with Data’ (ReDa) coordinated by Professor Hykel Hosni at the University of Milan and PhD at IUSS Pavia within the HuME programme.
His research interests mainly concern information theory, probability logics and maxent inference models in the field of uncertain reasoning. The key topics of his doctoral project are graphical representations of stochastic dependence relations, their connection with non-Archimedean probability functions and possible applications in the field of Statistical Relational Artificial Intelligence (STAR-AI).
