PhD candidate in Biomolecular Sciences and Biotechnology.

My name is Ilaria Brescancin and I am 24 years old. I graduated in scientific high school Taramelli in Pavia in 2017 and then I decided to study pharmaceutical chemistry and technology at the University of Pavia and I graduated in July 2023.
My undergraduate program included a curricular internship in pharmacy, and during my last year I had the opportunity to join the experimental pharmacology laboratory where I worked on my thesis. My thesis centered around the study of extracellular vesicles released by astrocyte cells. I focused on the characterization of extracellular vesicles from a morphological and dimensional perspective and on the analysis of protein content.
I also had the opportunity to work on a research project centers around the study of gut-brain axis and the connection between inflammation state of the colon and the onset of neuro disorders. I decided to continue with the world of scientific research and for this reason I applied to enter as a PhD student with the aim to specialize in neurodegenerative diseases especially in AD disease.
