Biography
I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from Marche Polytechnic University and my Master’s degree in Medical and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology from the University of Pavia. I carried out my Master’s thesis internship both at the University of Pavia and at the Istituto di Scienze e Tecnologie Chimiche “Giulio Natta” (SCITEC-CNR) in Milan, where I began exploring biocatalysis, with a focus on enzyme immobilization and the synthesis of chiral amines.
After graduation, I spent six months at the University of Exeter (UK) within the Erasmus+ traineeship,
engaging in protein crystallography and structural analysis of enzymes. In November 2024 I was the recipient of a research fellowship at SCITEC-CNR about the enzymatic functionalization of nitrogen-containing molecules.
Currently, I am a PhD student in the National Doctoral Programme in Science and Technology for Advanced Therapies (STAT) at the Scuola Universitaria Superiore IUSS Pavia.
My research focuses on biocatalysis for the synthesis of pharmaceutically relevant molecules, particularly chiral amines. I am involved in enzyme identification, characterization, and immobilization, as well as protein engineering and reaction optimization, with the aim develop selective, efficient, and sustainable processes.
