Biography
I am a PhD candidate in Science and Technology of Advanced Therapies, with a background in Biotechnology and in Molecular Biology and Genetics from the University of Pavia. My research path has focused on molecular biology and structural biochemistry, with a particular interest in flavin-dependent enzymes involved in the biosynthesis of natural metabolites. During my academic training, I gained experience in advanced laboratory techniques, including protein expression and purification, X-ray crystallography, and computational structural analysis. What motivates me is understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying complex biological systems and contributing to the development of knowledge with potential applications in the medical and industrial environment. I am currently working on the early stages of coenzyme Q biosynthesis, focusing on the study of the enzymes COQ1 and COQ2. In particular, my work centers on the expression, purification, and characterization of these two enzymes. The ultimate goal of this project is to gain deeper insight into their enzymatic activity and to understand how their evolution over time has shaped and altered their function.
