Biography

PhD candidate in Biomolecular Sciences and Biotechnology.

I am Pablo Angulo Lara, from Spain. I studied a Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology at the Polytechnic University of Madrid (2016-2020) and then I coursed the Master's degree in Computational Biology at the Polytechnic University of Madrid (2020-2021). I completed my external internship and the final master thesis at the Complutense University of Madrid in collaboration with the Hospital 12 de Octubre, with the project entitled "Predictive modelling of complications arising from preeclampsia in pregnant mothers from clinical data". After finishing my studies, I was hired as a research assistant and bioinformatician at the Complutense University of Madrid, where I was dedicated to the study of apicomplexan protists, virulence factors and their impact in the health field through. Finally, I have obtained a fellowship through the Marie Sklodowska-Curie action program (MSCA-DN) and the Long-reads Transcriptome European Consortium to do my PhD at the Istituto Italiano de Tecnologia, in the group of Dr Francesco Nicassio, having as main objective to develop methods and tools for the analysis of transcriptomic data obtained with the most recent single molecule sequencing technologies such as Nanopore. My goal as a doctoral candidate is to become a researcher specialising in computational biology, to be enriched by the international and collaborative environment of the programme and to be able to participate in innovative and cutting-edge projects that change our understanding of biology.
