Biography

PhD candidate in Theoretical and Experimental Linguistics.

Tommaso Sgrizzi obtained his bachelor's degree in Modern Literature from the University of Turin. His thesis, titled "The relative clause: a challenge at the interface between syntax and semantics," was written under the supervision of Prof. Mario Squartini. He then continued his studies at the University of Siena, attending the master's degree program "Language and Mind: Linguistics and Cognitive Studies," and graduated in 2023 with a thesis on language acquisition. His research focused on the role of restructuring verbs in Early Italian, investigating the structural reasons underlying their advantage in acquisition compared to other types of infinitival subordinate clauses (Title: The acquisition of restructuring and control; Supervisor: Prof. Adriana Belletti, Co-Supervisor: Prof. Luigi Rizzi).
