Abstract
I will defend the position that a possibility is only a nonabsurd proposition, and therefore modal logic is only a narrow form of propositional logic. Lessons will include an overview of the fundamental problems of modal metaphysics
(e.g. Lewis, Williamson, Stalnaker) and an introduction to the logic of higher orders.

Agustín Rayo is a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and a professor fellow at the University of Oslo. He is mainly interested in the philosophy of logic, language and mathematics, investigating in particular the connections between these disciplines, and the relationships between language and the world. He has published articles in the main journals of international analytical philosophy; among his volumes:
