On the occasion of the Day of Remembrance, established twenty years ago by the Italian Parliament as the anniversary of the demolition of the gates of Auschwitz, in memory of the Holocaust, the extermination and persecution of the Jewish people, on Monday 27 January 2020 the ADOV Association (Associazione Donatori di Voce), in collaboration with the University Library of Pavia, will hold readings from the book Il cielo cade by Lorenza Mazzetti in which the writer recalls the massacre, perpetrated by the Nazis, of the family of uncle Robert Einstein (first cousin of the more famous Albert).
Lorenza Mazzetti, born in Rome, lived her childhood in Tuscany, in the villa of her paternal aunt’s family, married to Robert Einstein, Albert’s cousin. He wrote Il cielo cade (Viareggio Award of 1962, published by this publishing house in 1992, from which the film was made in 2000) which tells of that childhood. A film director, he founded with Lindsay Anderson, Karel Reisz and Tony Richardson the «Free Cinema Movement», an experience narrated in London Diary (2014) and directed the Puppet Theatre in Rome. She disappeared on January 4, 2020.
