Following last year’s success, “BookCity Milano – Anche a Pavia” returns with a larger and more widespread program, centered on the theme “The Power of Ideas, the Ideas of Power.” All events are free, with registration at www.bookcitymilano.it

The festival is organized in collaboration with BookCity Milano, Collegio Ghislieri, and the City of Pavia, with support from Fondazione Monte di Lombardia and Fondazione Cariplo, under the patronage of Assolombarda, and in partnership with the Scuola Universitaria IUSS di Pavia.

Among the highlights of this edition will be Prof. Andrea Moro (IUSS Pavia – SNS Pisa), linguist and neuroscientist, who will speak on the intersections between language, neuroscience, and the power of ideas.

The festival will be symbolically opened on 3 November with “Grand Tour in Vespa,” an initiative promoted by Fondazione Mondadori, which will conceptually connect the BookCity cities – Como, Cremona, Lodi, Monza, and Pavia – through stories and readings. In Pavia, participants will include Fabio Mendolicchio, journalist Carlo Gariboldi, writer Giacomo Papi, and Prof. Andrea Moro.

Events featuring Andrea Moro include:

  • 15 November 2025, 11:30 AM – Ridotto del Teatro Fraschini (Corso Strada Nuova 136, Pavia)
    “Dire, tacere, postare”
With Chiara Valerio and Alessandra Tedesco, a dialogue on language, communication, and the power of words in the digital age.

According to Alessandro Maranesi, Rector of Collegio Ghislieri, BookCity represents a valuable opportunity for engagement and participation: a project that unites education, passion, and the desire to share knowledge, placing books back at the heart of Pavia’s cultural life.

Paolo Antonini, Chief Operating Officer of BookCity Milano, emphasizes: “The Pavia team is ambitious, skilled, and cohesive. After a smaller first edition, the second edition has literally exploded. Across Lombardy, events during BookCity interpret books in unique and original ways.”

Francesco Caracciolo, director of Assolombarda Pavia, highlights the cultural and economic importance of the initiative: “There can be no economic development without culture. Investing in culture means investing in the future and strengthening the connection between Milan and Pavia, two cities increasingly linked thanks to new infrastructures.”

Curator Giuseppe Antonelli confirms the enthusiasm: “Following the success of last year, Pavia is not stepping back but doubling its efforts. This year, the festival features ten events spanning fiction, poetry, non-fiction, music, sports, and children’s literature — different formats to explore the theme of the power of ideas in original ways.”
