Everything is ready for the written tests of the admission competition to the Scuola Universitaria Superiore IUSS in Pavia. On Tuesday 3 September 2024, starting at 9.30 a.m., the didactic premises of Campus Aquae (1st floor) in Strada Cascina Cascinazza, 29, will host the aspiring students, who have flocked to the school in large numbers this year.
The 2024 edition registered a 23% increase in applications for the ordinary three-year courses and a 47% increase for the two-year courses, marking a real boom in interest in the Pavia academic institution.
How the written tests are conducted: what you need to know
The written tests, which are held anonymously to ensure maximum impartiality, involve two tracks, chosen by the candidate from those proposed by the Selection Board on the day of the tests. The choice rules are clear:
First written test: it must concern a characterising subject in relation to the Class and Area for which the candidate is competing:
Class SUV - Human Sciences / Class STS - Social Sciences: available subjects: Italian, Latin, Greek, Philosophy, History.
Class STS - Science and Technology / Class SUV - Biomedical Sciences: available subjects: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology.
Second written test: it will focus on a subject other than the one chosen for the first test and may be freely chosen from among all those proposed by the Commission, regardless of Class or Area.
The papers proposed may be of different types: an essay, a series of exercises, or - for the Latin and Greek subjects - a translation of a classical text with a possible commentary.

The results of the written tests will be communicated according to the procedures indicated during the test and published by Tuesday 10 September 2024 in the section ‘Competitions, announcements and selections - Announcements of competition for students’ of the official website of the IUSS School.
