
"SciLawTech: An Expanding Landscape" – The First International Conference of ICLT (IUSS Pavia) scheduled for March 12-14, 2025.
The International Center on Law, Science and New Technologies (ICLT) aims at investigating the interaction between science, technology, social rules and law through an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary
approach and through deep connections with a growing network of like-minded entities, among which
CodeX – The Stanford Center for Legal Informatics.
The opening event will be hosted by the historical Collegio Ghislieri in Pavia on Wednesday, March 12: a
roundtable on the challenges in the domains of science, law and technologies at the current moment and in
the next years deriving from the developmet of AI in the present moment and in the future. The panelists
include the Deans of Collegio Ghislieri, Alessandro Maranesi and the Rector of IUSS Pavia, Riccardo Pietrabissa, together with excellent speakers with different scientific backgrounds, in a line that connects Italy and the United States.
Palazzo del Broletto, the home of IUSS, will be the scenario for the discussions on Thursday, March 13. The two morning sessions will provide discussions on the theme of Law and computation, with specific focus on computable contracts. The afternoon sessions, instead, will be dedicated to the various theoretical and practical layers linked to the Intellectual Property rights in the Generative AI age. The speakers, both from the private and from the public sector, have matured wide experience with reference to the analysis of the themes investigate, being also deeply engaged in the implementation in the practice of the respective domains.
The closing event is in cooperation with the Milan Court of Appeal and the Milan Bar Association and will take place in the morning of Friday 14 in the Aula Magna of the Tribunal of Milan around the relation
between Generative AI and the legal professions, with speakers belonging to many of the same, with the aim of confrontation on the proposed solutions and on the horizons of intervention.
ICLT is truly honoured that the excellent speakers accepted the invitation, since they bring their expertise,
their views and their experience will bring fruitful inputs that will hopefully constitute starting point for
future occasions of reflection and engagement.
