Sabrina Bonandin has been announced as the recipient of the 2023 Fondazione Grazioli Thesis Prize for her research on Opinion Dynamics during Epidemics.
Dr. Sabrina Bonandin, a brilliant student from the Department of Mathematics "F. Casorati" at the University of Pavia, and a student of IUSS - Scuola Universitaria Superiore Pavia, as well as a member of the Collegio Nuovo-Fondazione Sandra e Enea Mattei, has been honored with the prestigious 2023 Fondazione Grazioli Thesis Prize (Science category).
The recognition comes in acknowledgment of her thesis titled "Many-agent modelling of opinion dynamics in the presence of epidemics," with Prof. Mattia Zanella as her advisor.
Sabrina tackled a topic of significant social and scientific relevance. Her research rigorously explored the impact of behavioral variables on the spread of epidemics, focusing on the dynamics of consensus formation regarding non-pharmaceutical measures.
Her thesis proposed an innovative approach to model heterogeneous interactions among involved agents, shedding light on the observable effects of such interactions within the context of social and epidemiological dynamics.
The Fondazione Grazioli Thesis Prize, reserved for recent graduates who have obtained their master's degree from Lombardian universities, is a prestigious recognition established by the Fondazione Grazioli in collaboration with the Istituto Lombardo Accademia di Scienze e Lettere.
The award ceremony will take place during the Solemn Assembly for the inauguration of the 221st Academic Year at the Napoleonica Hall of the Istituto Lombardo on February 29, 2024.
This recognition underscores the importance and originality of Sabrina Bonandin's work, highlighting the value of scientific research in the field of modeling social and epidemiological dynamics and confirming her talent and dedication to advancing scientific knowledge.
