An interview with Prof. Gian Michele Calvi on the ERIES project's legacy and a direction for young researchers, recorded at the ERIES International Workshop 2026, held in Pavia, Italy, in May 2026 to mark the end of the project and to bring the consortium and user groups together to present results, exchange ideas and network. ERIES (Engineering Research Infrastructures for European Synergies) was a project funded by the European Union under the Horizon Europe programme, running from 2022 to 2026. It provided transnational access to experimental facilities for earthquake, wind and geotechnical engineering across 13 research infrastructures in Europe and Canada. A total of 69 user group projects were carried out, involving 518 researchers from 173 institutions across 55 countries, including 45 industry partners, and the resulting experimental data are openly available.
