SUstainability Business IDeas! is a free educational and workshop-based program aimed at identifying, developing, and implementing ideas with entrepreneurial potential.
The SUstainability Business IDeas! (“SUBID”) program combines the academic prestige and sectoral expertise of the University of Bologna, the University College of Excellence, and the Scuola Universitaria Superiore IUSS in developing business ideas, with the partnership and support of Fondazione Enel.
In particular, the goal identified by the Scuola Universitaria Superiore IUSS is to help students from all disciplinary fields develop new business ideas focused on the central theme of sustainability, enhancing the skills acquired within IUSS and promoting cultural development and socio-economic innovation.
The program, offered both in person and online, not only provides the conceptual and practical tools needed to move from concept to design and the creation of a prototype, but also offers participants a hands-on approach focused on problem-solving and teamwork. Tutors and coaches support participants in designing solutions and developing projects that are sustainable from both a technical and economic perspective.
THE CHALLENGES
To participate in the initiative, students are asked to respond to one of the proposed challenges and collaborate on solving them:
- How can we help local companies that have not yet begun their energy transition to recognize and benefit from its advantages?
- How can we help local communities in areas affected by natural disasters to anticipate and design solutions that mitigate the effects of such events?
THE PROGRAM PATH
After the selection phase, the program begins with a three-day Hackathon (October 20–22), a full-time event dedicated to the ideation of entrepreneurial projects. Only the projects selected at the end of this phase will proceed to the subsequent development phase, structured in multiple sessions between November 2021 and May 2022.
