SIFÀ-IUSS Lab (Supercomputer for an Inclusive Future At IUSS)
Paragrafo
Testo

The lab includes a High Performance Computer (HPC) consisting of 8 CPU nodes, each with 64 cores and 1 terabyte (TB) of RAM, as well as 2 GPU nodes consisting of 4 Nvidia A100 cards for a total of 6,912 CUDA cores and 80GB of memory at 1,935 GBps. The HPC also has two memory systems, one hot (scratch) and one cold (NFS), each with 700 TB of storage.
The SIFÀ-IUSS Lab allows for complex calculations that would be beyond the capabilities of a standard computer. SIFÀ-IUSS thus broadens the horizons of research developed at IUSS by providing a tool that few Italian universities currently possess. The laboratory is currently used by nine IUSS research groups (CAELUS, CARISMA, CIRTA, CORDA, FLOWLAB, ICoN, NepLab, NetS, ROSE), by PhD students of the National Doctorate in "Sustainable Development and Climate Change" (SDC) and by EUCENTRE, which hosts the facility.

The SIFÀ-IUSS laboratory therefore represents a key resource for research within the School and for all its research groups.

Research activities range from the analysis of climate change and its impacts to the examination of economic scenarios, linguistics, and beyond. The laboratory is available to all School personnel upon request, as well as to all IUSS doctoral candidates, including those enrolled in the National PhD Program in “Sustainable Development and Climate Change” (SDC) based at other institutions.
