PhD candidate in Earthquake Engineering.

Fahrettin Kuran received his B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering at Pamukkale University, graduating as the top-ranked student in his program in 2020. He completed his M.Sc. in Earthquake Engineering at the Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute (KOERI), Boğaziçi University, in 2024, with a thesis focused on predicting strong ground motion parameters using machine learning techniques.
Following his undergraduate studies, Fahrettin worked as a civil engineer at Pamukkale University in 2021, where he conducted earthquake performance evaluations and developed retrofitting projects for various structures. From 2021 to 2023, he worked as a research assistant in the Department of Civil Engineering at Istanbul Gelişim University. He then joined KOERI at Boğaziçi University as a research assistant from 2023 to 2024.
Fahrettin is currently pursuing his PhD at IUSS Pavia, in collaboration with the GEM Foundation, where he continues his research in the field of earthquake engineering.
