From 13 to 15 November 2025, the IUSS Pavia – Scuola Universitaria Superiore will participate in YOUNG – Shape Your Future, held at LarioFiere Como-Lecco, the national fair dedicated to orientation, education, university, and the world of work, organized with the support of Regione Lombardia and in collaboration with all Lombardy universities.
During the opening conference, Alessandro Fermi, Regional Councillor for University, Research, and Innovation, will highlight the role of orientation as a continuous process, capable of guiding students through the most important decisions in their educational and professional development, helping them discover and develop their talents, passions, and potential for their future careers.
At the official opening of the event, Professor Cristiano Chesi, Professor of Linguistics and Director of the Linguistics Laboratory at IUSS Pavia, will deliver the talk “The Right Questions (to Ask an AI to Understand How It Processes What We Tell It)”, in which he will demonstrate, through examples and interactive mini-experiments, the differences between human language comprehension and that of large AI language models such as ChatGPT.

Thursday, November 13, 2025 – Immersive Neuromodulation: Integrating Virtual Reality, Neurostimulation, and EEG to Study Mental Functions (led by Prof. Giulia Mattavelli)
This activity will illustrate the objectives and methods of research in cognitive and clinical neuroscience conducted at IUSS. Participants will experience a simulation of a non-invasive neurostimulation experiment and EEG recording while viewing a 360° immersive video through a virtual reality headset.
The experience will highlight the connection between technological innovation and scientific research, showing how the creation of three-dimensional virtual environments can generate complex sensory experiences and measure the neurophysiological correlates of interaction.

Friday, November 14, 2025 – “Let’s Shake Structures: Make Them Tremble with Us!” (led by Dr. Gianrocco Mucedero)
This activity will provide a hands-on demonstration of earthquake effects on buildings using a portable shaking table. Seismic events will be simulated on a model structure, allowing participants to observe in real time the dynamics of deformation and damage.
The demonstration will provide an opportunity to understand the fundamental principles of seismic engineering and reflect on the importance of earthquake-resistant design, with particular attention to the Italian context.

Saturday, November 15, 2025 – IUSS Presentation and the EFC Project – Educating Future Citizens (by Prof. Andrea Tiengo, Delegate for Incoming Orientation)
Prof. Tiengo will give a presentation dedicated to the IUSS School and the national EFC initiative, which promotes innovative orientation programs to support young people in making informed choices about their university paths.
