Biography
PhD candidate in Biomolecular Sciences and Biotechnology.
Francesca Careddu graduated in 2020 in Biotechnology (L2) at the University of Pavia with a score of 109/110, discussing an experimental thesis entitled: "Thrombopoietin receptor agonists: western blot analysis of megakaryocyte maturation", supervisor Prof. C.A. Di Buduo. Later in 2022 she obtained her Master's Degree in Medical and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology (LM-9) with a score of 110/110 cum laude, discussing an experimental thesis entitled: "3D silk bone marrow model to predict the response to pharmacological treatment of Inherited Thrombocytopenia", supervisor Prof. A. Balduini. During her thesis, F.C. studied megakaryocyte differentiation and maturation starting from hematopoietic stem cells from patients’ affected by Inherited Thrombocytopenia. She acquired skills in the preparation of 2D and 3D cell cultures three-dimensional models of the bone marrow to reproduce the biogenesis of platelets and for drug testing.
From October 1st 2022, she is a PhD student in Biomolecular Sciences and Biotechnology of the IUSS at the laboratory of Prof. A. Balduini (Department of Molecular Medicine, University of Pavia), studying hematopoiesis 3D cultures.
