Biography

Riccaboni Massimo Professor of Applied Economics and Director of the AXES research unit at IMT Lucca.

He is the author of over 100 publications in international journals with around 10,000 citations. His publications include articles in Science, PNAS, Nature Reviews, Journal of the European Economic Association, Management Science, Research Policy, Journal of International Business Studies, Economic Letters, International Journal of Industrial Organization, R&D Management, Health Affairs, Marketing Letters, Health Policy, Small Business Economics, Scientometrics, Physical Review E, New Journal of Physics, Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, World Economics, Industrial and Corporate Change, Nature Scientific Data, and Nature Scientific Reports.
He is the author of "The Rise and Fall of the Firm: A Stochastic Framework on Innovation, Creative Destruction and Growth" (2020, Cambridge University Press) and of EU reports on "Innovation and Industrial Leadership: Lessons from Pharmaceuticals", "Innovation and Competitiveness in European Biotechnology" and "Medical Devices Competitiveness and Impact on Public Health Expenditure".  
His current research focuses on the economics of innovation, industrial organization, network analysis, and the economics of science, with a particular focus on life sciences.
