The Lombardy Region's Regional Programme under the European Regional Development Fund – PR FESR 2021–2027 – provides for the allocation of €2 billion over the 2021–2027 programming period to support economic recovery and enhance the competitiveness of businesses across the region (Regulations (EU) 2021/1058 and (EU) 2021/1056).

The PR FESR 2021–2027 is currently structured around nine strategic priorities.

The Institute for Advanced Study (IUSS Pavia) has secured funding through its participation in the Collabora & Innova call under ASSE 1 – "A More Competitive and Smarter Europe", Specific Objective 1.1 – "Developing and enhancing research and innovation capacities and the uptake of advanced technologies", Action 1.1.3 – "Supporting the implementation of complex research, development and innovation projects."
